On 7 November last year, Enteractive, Inc., a multimedia software company, announced that it had signed an agreement with world-renowend writer, director, and animator Terry Gilliam! Together, Enteractive and Terry Gilliam will produce a hilarious CD-ROM game version of Terry's 1978 book, Animations of Mortality.

"Terry Gilliam is a mastermind of creative exploration -- a trait that perfectly matches Enteractive's publishing mission," said John Ramo, president and CEO of Enteractive, Inc. in the November 7 press release. "Our creative partnerships with artists and celebrities like Terry place Enteractive in a leadership position to make the convergence of the entertainment and multimedia industries a reality."

Some Python fans may know of Terry's book, "Animations of Mortality," which humorously delves into the mind of a successful animator. The book features artwork and sketches from Terry Gilliam's animations, including works before and after his successful Monty Python animations.

The "Animations of Mortality" CD-ROM will take adults of all ages through a Pythonesque maze to experience Gilliam's creative and off-beat world of animation. Users will experiment with different animation concepts, each imbued with Gilliam's distinctive flair. "Animation paints a different world for everyone -- it's an individual perspective," said Gilliam. "What better way to get into the quirky mind of an animator than through an interactive CD-ROM?"

This isn't Terry Gilliam's first CD-ROM production. Terry also co-produced 7th Level's "Monty Python's Complete Waste of Time" in 1994. In the "Complete Waste of Time" game, Gilliam (and Pythons Eric Idle, Terry Jones, and Michael Palin) provided new and original material which added to the success of that title.

Established in December 1993, Enteractive, Inc. publishes multimedia CD-ROM titles that foster interest in science and nature, self-discovery, children's musical adventures, and entertainment. Since 1993, Enteractive has published a number of popular multimedia CD-ROM titles, including:

  • "Cities Under the Sea: Coral Reefs" with Jean-Michel Cousteau
  • ASK ISSAC ASIMOV...ABOUT SPACE, based on the children's book series of the same name by Isaac Asimov
  • THE ALCHEMIST, based on a book and card set of the same name by New Age author Monte Farber and artist Amy Zerner
  • PIGS, a clever children's musical adventure from the award-winning children's author team of Roger Bollen and Marilyn Sadler.

Enteractive also recently announced an agreement with Bon Jovi lead guitarist Richie Sambora to develop a CD-ROM in 1996.

Terry Gilliam's "Animations of Mortality" CD-ROM is expected to be available in the fall of 1996.
