The 100th annual American International Toy Fair takes place this week (Sunday, February 16 - Wednesday, February 19) in New York City at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Last year at the Toy Fair, SideShow debuted additions to its line of Monty Python and the Holy Grail action figures [see Daily Llama #103, 13 February 2002].

To continue the tradition this year, SideShow Toy will announce a further expansion to its Monty Python family. It's... Graham Chapman as Brian from Life of Brian! And... Terry Jones as Mandy, Brian's mother!

Both figures will ship in October/November 2003 and will be part of a limited series of 4000 units.

The Brian character comes with a small cap, robe, sash, waist belt and pouch, sandaled feet, paint brush and pot. Portrait for the figure was sculpted by Oluf W. Hartvigson.

Mandy comes with a head wrap, robe, sash, sandaled feet, fat suit, and rocks. Portrait for the Mandy figure was also sculpted by Oluf W. Hartvigson.

SideShow is also debuting its World of Froud collection based on works of acclaimed fairy artist, Brian Froud, with figures sculpted by his wife and renown sculptor, Wendy Froud. Brian Froud is well known to many Python fans as having created the Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairy books and calendars with Terry Jones. He also worked with Terry on designing the creatures for the movie Labyrinth.

In further Monty Python news, SideShow began shipping the very limited series of its 18-inch tall Knight Who Says 'Ni!'. Terry Gilliam's Bridgekeeper figure will begin shipping in the next week.

SideShow is also talking to John Cleese about a line of Fawlty Towers figures! Very exciting news! Stay tuned...
