MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT WINS BEST MUSICAL AT OUTER CRITICS CIRCLE AWARDS

Sara Ramirez wins Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Lady of the Lake in Spamalot

The first theater awards show of the season has awarded Monty Python's Spamalot the prize for best Broadway musical. The Outer Critics Circle, an organization of over 75 out-of-town critics and writers who cover the New York theater scene, announced the winners today and awarded the top prize for musicals to Spamalot.

Thus, Spamalot is now officially an award-winning musical!

Moreover, Spamalot also picked up three additional awards (it was nominated for eight): Outstanding Direction of a Musical to Mike Nichols; Outstanding Featured Actress in a Musical to Sara Ramirez, and Outstanding Costume Design to Tim Hatley.

Winners of the 55th annual Outer Critics Circle Awards will be presented with their awards on May 26 at a ceremony at Sardi's Restaurant in New York.
